Panel discussion: Religious freedom, freedom of identity and expression, and human rights

SU staff and students are invited to join the Equality Unit for an online panel discussion entitled: Panel discussion: Religious freedom, freedom of identity and expression, and human rights. 

The Equality Unit’s Case Officer, Larona Matee, will be in conversation with Prof Deon Forster (Departmental Chair: Systematic Theology and Ecclesiology, Stellenbosch University), Anil Padavatan (Programme Manager, Gender Dynamix), and Dr Annemarie Strohwald (Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Stellenbosch University).

Panellists will unpack various issues including where religious freedom ends and human rights begin; how the law balances freedom of expression and identity, religious freedom and human rights in a diverse society; and justified religious freedom in a university context.
