The Cardiovascular Research Group will embark on a large, international study in June 2014 investigating the relationship between HIV & antiretroviral treatment and cardiovascular dysfunction.
The successful candidate will form an integral part of the research team, mainly focussing on the human / epidemiological investigations. State-of-the-art technology will be used to assess vascular function in the study participants, and the PhD student will be trained in these technologies and perform investigations on the study participants.
The PhD student will visit our collaborators in Belgium on a regular basis (total of 12 months over 3-4 years) and also receive a stipend from Belgium.
Requirements: Successfully completed MSc (preferably in medical sciences)
Where: Division of Medical Physiology, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Stellenbosch University, Tygerberg, Western Cape.
