The University has just learnt that ESKOM has declared a power emergency and is currently applying load shedding. The power in Cloetesville, Franschhoek and Gordons Bay is currently down and Stellenbosch Campus is most likely to follow. Unfortunately we do not know if and when the power will be switched off. However the likelihood is very high.
Academic activities will continue uninterrupted as a large number of academic buildings on the Stellenbosch Campus do have emergency generators.
Also note that outages could affect access to buildings and staff members are requested to be vigilant in this regard.
