Dates: 20-22 January 2015

Times: Tuesday and Wednesday 09:00-16:30; Thursday 09:00-13:00.

This three-day workshop on plain language is intended to provide participants with the basic principles of plain language, as well as with ample opportunities to practice their newly-acquired skills.

The first day of the workshop will be devoted to the following topics:

  • A legal framework for plain language in South Africa
  • The benefits of using plain language
  • The processing of texts by readers and writers

Language practitioners who often work with public documents, especially translators, editors, copy-writers, communication officers, public relations practitioners, journalists, educators and trainers will greatly benefit from this workshop.

The workshop fee is R2 900 per person. (This includes stationery and tea/coffee with light refreshments, but lunch is excluded.)

The closing date for registration is 3 December 2014.
