A makeover for the ugly stepsister of corporate communication
We put theory to practice in an interactive plain language writing course that focuses on legal documents.
Who should attend the workshop?
The workshop is aimed at professionals who communicate on behalf of an organisation or who draft documents such as
- terms and conditions;
- disclaimers;
- notices;
- contracts;
- correspondence;
- forms; and
- marketing material.
The workshop is therefore ideal for people who need to create more effective, client-centred business communication.
What is covered in the workshop?
We will look at the entire process of effective legal communication in plain language, including
- guiding your organisation towards plain language;
- plain-language challenges;
- planning, in other words understanding your objectives and the expectations of your audience;
- drafting, in other words choosing what to communicate, getting organised and writing; and
- editing, testing and revising.
You will be given ample opportunity to put your skills into practice and you will receive feedback from experts. If you would like to send us an example of your work beforehand, you are welcome to do so.
