Every year students on the Tygerberg campus celebrate Earth Week with numerous activities to create awareness and appreciation of the Earth's natural environment.
Earth Day is celebrated internationally on 22 April.
This year the celebration started on the Tygerberg Campus on 18 April with a range of activities, including movies, documentaries and game nights enjoyed by all student communities.
A water-saving initiative called the Bucket Challenge was also launched. Each residence received buckets in which to collect shower water that can be used to flush toilets or irrigate the gardens.
The week ended on 22 April with the launch of the Innovation Project Competition, in association with the Urban Acupuncture Project of the Greater Tygerberg Partnership, to stimulate creative ideas and projects around sustainable living.
