DRD introduces new process for animal ethics applications

Page Content:

The Division for Research Development sent out a memorandum on 11 July 2013 to the research community, informing them of the implementation of the RIMS system on campus. The system will allow for online ethics applications via e-forms and committee feedback directly to SU assigned email accounts of applicants.

They are now ready to roll out the online process for applications to the Research Ethics Committee: Animal Care and Use. Prospective applicants (and supervisors, in the case of students applying) must therefore be trained on the system.

Several training opportunities are scheduled to take place on the SU main and Tygerberg campuses. This training is vital to ensure that applicants successfully and timeously submit complete applications.

Applicants must visit the DRD website (www.sun.ac.za/research) to register for a training opportunity on any one of the campuses. Any queries can be directed to Winston Beukes (wabeukes@sun.ac.za; x9003).

  • Tools and applications for use on mobile devices and personal computers will be considered.
  • The competition is open for all researchers and students from all faculties at Stellenbosch University.
  • Submissions will be judged by a panel appointed by the Library Research Week Steering Committee and will include post-graduate students and researchers.
  • All participants must be willing to do a short presentation before an audience of peers if selected as one of the top five. These presentations will be made available on the Library's website.
  • The winner and the other four presenters must be willing to accept their prizes at the 'coffee expressions' closing event at 12:00 on 8 August 2014 in the auditorium, JS Gericke Library.
