The reception desk in the Administration B building, the enquiries desk in Administration A and the Call Centre are experiencing an increase in telephonic and walk-in enquiries about the location of conference venues on campus.
"Mostly these staff members have not been informed about the conferences and therefore they cannot direct the campus visitors to the correct venue," says Susan van der Merwe, Head: Marketing and Publications. "Some of the visitors do not even know the name of the building or venue when they arrive at the reception desk in Admin B. It does not create a good first impression or a welcoming atmosphere if we do no have the necessary information available. We should be able to assist, even if the visitors neglected to familiarise themselves with all the relevant information before their arrival."
Please assist Communication and Liaison (C & L) by sharing information on conferences taking place on our campuses. As these dates and venues would have been booked well in advance, you are welcome to send the details of all conferences scheduled for the rest of 2013. Send an e-mail with the name of the conference; dates; venue(s) and contact person's name and contact details to Olivia Leo: leoo@sun.ac.za as soon as possible, please. Communication and Liaison will then ensure that the front offices most likely to receive such queries will receive the information in time. Please include conferences hosted on the Bellville Park and Tygerberg campuses, as we have had delegates arriving in Stellenbosch while they were expected at a conference on the Bellville Park campus.
